Kristy Rachal

Kristy Rachal has lived in Lake Claire since 2011 with her husband, Tyrone, and her daughter, Chloe, who is a 7 th grader at DT Howard. Kristy currently serves as Region External Affairs Statewide Project Manager at Georgia Power, responsible for partnering with the Region External team to implement the organization’s strategic mission and managing strategic initiatives that impact communities around the state. Previously, she managed strategic initiatives for GPC External Affairs and Nuclear Development, before which Kristy served as Community & Economic Development Director, where she managed teams supporting Georgia communities through business recruitment, retention, and expansion activities along with leadership development and strategic planning. Before assuming roles in economic development, Kristy oversaw corporate real estate sales and leasing for Georgia Power. Kristy also served as a Senior Staff Attorney at Georgia Power. Prior to joining GPC, Kristy was the Director of the Consumers’ Utility Counsel Division in the Governor’s Office of Consumer Affairs, where she represented all of Georgia’s small business and residential customers in gas, electricity, and telecommunications proceedings before the Public Service Commission. She also worked as an energy attorney in the same group. Additionally, Kristy worked as an attorney for the Women and Children’s Advocacy Project, a division of the Legal Clinic for the Homeless.

A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Kristy is a graduate of Spelman College, where she majored in English/Pre-Law. She received her law degree from the University of Georgia. Kristy previously served on the boards of VOX Teen Communications, CREW Atlanta, Georgia CASA, Georgia City Solutions, the Atlanta Science Festival, the Georgia Economic Developers Association, and the Georgia Academy for Economic Development, along with the Mary Lin Elementary Foundation Board. She currently serves on the boards of Park Pride and the Council for Quality Growth. Kristy is a graduate of the Urban Land Institute’s Center for Leadership, CREW Atlanta’s Leadership Class, the Regional Leadership Institute, and Leadership Georgia. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
