The State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) of Georgia administers the health insurance program for Atlanta Public Schools employees. SHBP offers a variety of comprehensive health plan options to meet the diverse needs of its members. Available plan types include:

• Traditional Indemnity Plan
• Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Plan
• Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP)
• High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
• Four Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Plans, including Consumer Choice options for both PPO and HMO plans

Health coverage is provided through three major carriers:

• Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield: Offers Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) plans under Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers, as well as an HMO option
• UnitedHealthcare: Offers both an HMO and a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
• Kaiser Permanente: Offers an HMO plan only

These options ensure that all employees have access to flexible and affordable healthcare coverage tailored to their individual needs.
