Qualified Change in Status
What if something in your personal situation changes during the year? Benefit changes are normally allowed only during the annual enrollment period between October and November. However, certain changes to your family or work status may allow you to make mid-year benefit changes. Changes must be made within 31 days of your life changing event, which is also the effective date of your benefit changes
You may be eligible to update your APS benefits if you experience a Qualified Life Event, such as:
Employment Changes
- Change in FTE (full-time equivalency)
- Separation from APS
Family or Life Events
- Marriage, divorce, or legal separation
- Birth or adoption of a child
- A dependent turning 26
- Gain or loss of other coverage by you or an eligible dependent
Important:
You have 31 days from the date of the event to make changes to your APS benefits (enroll, drop, or adjust coverage).
