The State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) of Georgia administers the health insurance program for Atlanta Public Schools employees. SHBP offers a variety of comprehensive health plan options to meet the diverse needs of its members. Available plan types include:
- Traditional Indemnity Plan
- Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Plan
- Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP)
- High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
- Four Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Plans, including Consumer Choice options for both PPO and HMO plans
Health coverage is provided through three major carriers:
- Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield: Offers Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) plans under Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers, as well as an HMO option
- UnitedHealthcare: Offers both an HMO and a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
- Kaiser Permanente: Offers an HMO plan only
These options ensure that all employees have access to flexible and affordable healthcare coverage tailored to their individual needs.
