Meet the Principal
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of West Georgia in 1994, I was hired as a 5th-grade teacher at Indian Creek Elementary School with the Dekalb County School System. During the 8 years, I was in Dekalb, I served as a classroom teacher of mathematics, an Early Intervention Teacher, and an America’s Choice Math Coach. In 2000, I received a Master’s of Science in Education degree from Mercer University and completed a Leadership Certification program at Georgia State University in 2002.
In the fall of 2002, I left Dekalb County School System for a job with the Clayton County School System as an Instructional Lead Teacher at Morrow Elementary School. While serving in this capacity, I obtained a Specialist of Leadership degree from Central Michigan University at Mt. Pleasant, Michigan in 2006. Also, in 2006, I was appointed Assistant Principal of Morrow Elementary school and served in that role until 2008 when I was named Elementary Math Coordinator for the Clayton County School District. After only a year as Math Coordinator, I was appointed Principal of Morrow Elementary School in the spring of 2009.
Changes in 2011 would bring me to the Atlanta Public School System as Principal of Whitefoord Elementary School. After 6 wonderful years at Whitefoord, in 2017, the district decided to merge Whitefoord with another elementary school to increase enrollment. This merger led to my appointment as principal of Parkside Elementary School in 2017. It is my hope and goal to make a positive impact on the staff, students, and community of Parkside Elementary. My intentions are to foster a culture that supports professional learning communities for the staff, a high level of academic achievement for the students, and a partnership with the community as we unite to move Parkside from “good” to GREAT!
