David T. Howard Middle School Athletics Booster Club
The Booster Club supports our student athletes and makes sure that every eligible child has an opportunity to participate.
Parents, Alumni, Students, and Staff,
My name is Tony Moore and I will be your 2023-2024 President of the David T. Howard (DTH) Booster Club. I’d like to extend a warm welcome to the incoming 6th graders and their families – and a big welcome back to everyone else. When my son started at DTH last year, I had no idea what the booster club was – that quickly changed once I signed up to help with cross country and track & field. DTH Booster Club supports athletic and academic excellence, promotes sportsmanship, and preserves the history and tradition of accomplishment for all student athletes.
Middle school can be overwhelming for some. Participation in athletics helps some of our incoming students find a place to belong and make new friends. The DTH Booster Club objectives are:
- Maximize student participation rates in athletics
- Demonstrate a stronger competitive athletic presence/reputation in the community
- Maximize individual athletic skill development and foster a sense of belonging and character development for all students
- Create effective feeder programs to improve continuity between DTH Middle School and Midtown High School sports
The DTH Booster Club is a 501c3 organization (tax exempt status) that consists of parents, staff and coaches working together to enrich our athletic community. The money raised through donations from parents and concession stand sales helps to sponsor student scholarships, procure training equipment, host appreciation luncheons, and *hopefully* provide our senior athletes with a banquet in May.
Parent involvement is important and essential to our success . With your help, I am looking forward to another incredible year of athletics as we continue to build in the 23/24 school year. I’m still learning and developing a plan for how to ensure we are successful. But key components will include parent participation in our athletics programs, increased transparency with a FAQ, and a tentative calendar so parents can plan ahead for tryouts and practices.
2023-2024 DTH Booster Club President
