The Value of Our Program
Participating students will have the opportunity to explore professional career paths and receive guidance from professionals. They will also develop important skills required for success, including career research, job search techniques, and professional communication skills such as writing effective emails, creating resumes, and mastering interviews. Additionally, the program places significant emphasis on social and emotional learning (SEL). Students will enhance soft skills such as self-awareness, collaboration, and time management.
Our program is an initiative of the Department of Academic Enrichment Programs and the Office of Gifted and Talented Education. While it primarily targets high-potential and gifted students, gifted identification is not mandatory. Schools should select motivated students who will be juniors or seniors aged 17 by February 1 in their internship year.
The program can accommodate up to 15 student interns at participating high schools, although some schools may have only a few interns annually. Although our office's human resources are limited, there is potential for additional capacity, particularly if schools can assist in securing internship placements. This collaboration could allow the program to accommodate more than 15 students per school.
