COVID-19 Updates + Alerts
-
August 2025
This is a reminder that COVID-19 remains active in our schools and community throughout the year, not just during flu season. While flu activity is highest during the fall and winter, COVID-19 can spread at any time of year.
Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, and sometimes loss of taste or smell. Because symptoms can be similar to the flu, testing is the best way to know for sure. Check with the school nurse for availability of test kits.
When you are sick:
- Stay home and away from others if you have tested positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms.
- You may return to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours:
- Your symptoms have improved overall and
- You have been fever-free without using fever-reducing medicine.
- For the next 5 days after returning, take added precautions, like practicing good hygiene, wearing a mask, and practicing social distancing.
Protect yourself and others:
- Practice good hygiene.
- Stay home when sick and return once symptoms improve: https://www.atlantapublicschools.us/Page/68786

Atlanta Public Schools continue to follow respiratory virus guidance, including COVID-19, created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Georgia Department of Public Health, and monitor the situation in our community and schools.
