What is a parent liaison?
A parent liaison is a dedicated school staff whose primary role is to build bridges of communication between the home and school. A parent liaison helps remove cultural and linguistic barriers that are obstacles for parents and schools working together. Parent liaisons help parents and families get information, support, and help they need to ensure their child’s academic and social success in school. Parent Liaisons empower parents in helping them understand how to get involved, keep informed, share information to ensure that their child does his or her best, and how to advocate for their child. Parent liaisons support schools and families in three essential focus areas: Building Parent Capacity, Building Staff Capacity, and Connecting Community Partners.
