Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton County and Fulton County Board of Health Partner to Offer COVID-19 Vaccine to APS Students, Staff

ATLANTA –  A partnership launched this week between Atlanta Public Schools (APS), Fulton County and the Fulton County Board of Health will make the two-shot Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine available for students ages 12 and up in the district’s middle schools and high schools and to all staff across the district.

The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is being administered this week at APS middle schools and high schools. The second dose will be administered the week of August 30. Families and staff are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. Consent forms and the schedule of vaccinations are available through the schools or on the district website at https://www.atlantapublicschools.us/Page/66371.

APS Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring, Atlanta Board of Education Chair Jason Esteves, Fulton County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts, and a representative from the Fulton County Board of Health will visit Jean Childs Young Middle School on Thursday, to talk about the important role this voluntary vaccination initiative will play in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and its variants in schools and throughout communities in Atlanta and Fulton County.

WHAT:          APS, Fulton County, Fulton County Board of Health to announce a partnership that

is making the COVID-19 vaccine available to eligible students and APS staff.

 

WHO:            The following officials will give brief remarks and be available to answer

questions: 

  • APS Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring
  • Atlanta Board of Education Chair Jason Esteves
  • Fulton County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts
  • A representative from the Fulton County Board of Health
  • Jean Childs Young Middle School Principal Ron Garlington

 

(NOTE: There may be opportunities to interview students and/or staff members who signed up for the vaccine at Young Middle School.)
