Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring Selected Honorary Co-Chair for New Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens’ Transition Team

Mayor Dickens will attend the swearing-in ceremony and organizational meeting of the Atlanta Board of Education, Monday morning

 

ATLANTA –  Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring has been named one of five co-chairs for the transition team of newly-elected Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.

Dr. Herring joins former Mayor Sam Massell, Georgia State University President Bran Blake, Federal Reserve of Atlanta President Raphael Bostic and Bank of America’s President of Global Commercial Banking Wendy Stewart.

Additionally, Mayor Dickens, a graduate of APS’ Benjamin E. Mays High School, will attend the swearing-in ceremony and organizational meeting (election of Board Officers) for newly-elected and re-elected Atlanta Board of Education (ABOE) members at 10 AM, Monday, January 10, in the Board Auditorium at the APS Alonzo A. Crim Center for Learning and Leadership.

“As the proud superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools, I am honored and humbled to be selected to represent our school district on Mayor Dickens’ transition team,” Dr. Herring said. “We are thrilled that Mayor Dickens and his administration are committed, as are we, to continuing the growth of the partnership between the City of Atlanta and APS. We are also proud to have him celebrate in the swearing in of our re-elected and new Board Members and look forward to a powerful future together for our children and our city.”

 

WHAT:           Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens will attend the swearing-in ceremony for newly-elected and re-elected Atlanta Board of Education members, as well as the Board’s organizational meeting. This week, Mayor Dickens named APS Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring one of the co-chairs of his transition team.
