(Wednesday, 10 AM - Noon) John Lewis Invictus Academy to Host Brotherhood Summit to Inspire Male Students

John Lewis Invictus Academy (1890 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, NW) is calling on the men in Atlanta to help lead the school’s male students down the right path using a quote from Frederick Douglass: “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”

The JLIA Brotherhood Summit is being held to inspire, encourage, and empower men in the community to be fully engaged in the lives of the young men at JLIA and to help them model the tenets of P.R.I.D.E. – Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Excellence.

The event will feature words of encouragement from Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens (video message), and a keynote address from national political commentator Dr. Rashad Rickey, host of the Rashad Richey Morning Show on WAOK-AM and Indisputable on the TYT Network.

WHAT:      JLIA will host the “Brotherhood Summit: Rooted in P.R.I.D.E.,” designed to encourage the school’s young males to make positive choices and remain on the right path.

(Thursday, 11 AM – 1 PM) APS to Host Annual State of the District Event to Share District Progress, Key Updates on Student Performance


Atlanta Public Schools and Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring will host the annual State of The District event, live from The Illuminarium (550 Somerset Terrace, NE).

 

The public may watch “State of the District – Mission Possible: APS2036” by visiting: www.facebook.com/atlantapublicschools.

 

This flagship district event provides a unique opportunity for APS stakeholders to hear key updates on student performance and our strategies for accelerating academic achievement through innovation, targeted intervention, and partnerships from the superintendent.

 

Through this year’s interactive “Mission Possible” experience, audience members will be immersed in an exciting and engaging format to envision an exciting path forward for APS scholars. The event will showcase talented APS scholars and bring together business and civic leaders, parents, APS alumni, and staff, as we co-create an exciting future for our district, our city, and our state.

 

The call to action for the event is to align/partner every school with a corporate partner.

 

A media roundtable for reporters featuring Dr. Herring will be held at 1:30 PM, following the event.
