Washington High School Students to Showcase AgSTEM Program for Apple, Propel Executives, Friday
$250,000 grant from Apple and Propel provided funding for an environmental sustainability program at the school, with help from the Morehouse School of Medicine
ATLANTA – Booker T. Washington High School students will put their knowledge of agriculture and STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) on display, Friday, for executives from global technology giant Apple and Propel, an organization dedicated to preparing African-American students for careers in entrepreneurship, arts and entertainment, agri-tech, social justice, and health care.
Apple/Propel provided a $250,000 grant to the Morehouse School of Medicine and Washington High School to fund the school’s AgSTEM program, which focuses on environmental sustainability. Students will take the executives on a tour of their innovation space/AgSTEM lab, and the urban garden they have created on campus.
The visit also will feature a presentation on the school’s storied history as one of the south’s first high schools for African Americans, and a roundtable discussion between the students, executives from Apple and Propel, and representatives from the Morehouse School of Medicine.
