Atlanta Public Schools Weekly News Tip Sheet (September 2 - 7)

Editors/Producers/Reporters: The following is a list of events, programs, accomplishments and/or initiatives occurring in Atlanta Public Schools (APS) this week. Please use it as a guide as you develop your coverage plans. Thank you for your interest in Atlanta Public Schools!

(Thursday, 6 – 8 p.m.) Grady Cluster Conversation Session

Grady High School (929 Charles Allen Drive, NE) will host the District’s fifth Cluster Conversation session. These events are being held this fall in each Atlanta Public Schools (APS) cluster as a way for community members to come out and hear about the great work being performed in each cluster and to help develop the District’s next district strategic plan. Through these Cluster Conversation sessions, parents, students, employees, and community members will learn more about all of the schools in their cluster and provide input on the future of APS.

(Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.) Benteen Elementary to Host Atlanta Braves in Celebration of Latino Contributions to Baseball

Benteen Elementary School (200 Cassanova Street, SE) will host members of the Atlanta Braves for Celebrating Nuestra Cultura (Our People, Our Heritage), presented by Georgia Power. The event aims to engage and educate Latino youth, through unique activations celebrating the contributions Latinos make to the game of “béisbol.” (baseball). The Braves and Georgia Power will visit schools within the Metro Atlanta area and host a WIFFLE ball clinic. Georgia Power will present its Learning Power curriculum on Energy Efficiency to students.

Members of the media are invited to attend all events on the weekly APS News Tip Sheet. If you have an interest in these stories, please contact Seth Coleman, Media Relations Manager.
