District to Host Two Fireside Chats, August 13
Join Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring and other senior administrators at two fireside chats on Thursday, August 13, focused on high schools and early education.
The high school fireside chat is at 5 p.m., on Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/94782473476. The fireside chat on early education will begin at 6 p.m., on Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/94401022281. It will provide more details about the District’s Take Flight: APS Kinder Experience.
For children entering kindergarten in the fall, APS is excited to offer a high-quality, hands-on, and interactive experience that helps the District’s most curious and creative learners build self-esteem, social skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. After all, an early start is key to a brighter future. It is an opportunity to learn more about enrollment and the day-in-the-life of an APS kindergartner! The District’s committed and talented teachers have developed an engaging online learning experience for young learners for the 2020-2021 school year.
Parents and caregivers should register their kindergartners for school today at https://www.atlantapublicschools.us/kinderenroll, and join the fireside chat on Thursday at 6 p.m. on Zoom (listed above) for a one-hour session designed to help families and children transition into a virtual kindergarten classroom.
Spanish interpretation will be available in the Zoom room for both events and they will both be broadcast on the District’s Facebook page (@AtlantaPublicSchools).
Important Information for Parents/Caregivers: Student Registration Process is Ongoing
Parents and caregivers are reminded that students should register when they are new to the District, entering grades K, 6, or 9 and whenever a change of address occurs. If none of these are applicable, and the school has up-to-date and accurate contact information, there is no need to register.
However, those needing to complete the enrollment process may do so conveniently online at www.atlanta.k12.ga.us/enrollment. APS will finalize enrollments via email, so parents will not have to visit their child’s school in person. If additional information is needed, APS will contact to the parent/caregiver.
APS Facebook in Spanish
APS recently launched a Facebook page for its Spanish-speaking families. This page will further enhance District efforts to provide families with educational and wellness resources in their native language. APS is excited that this page will allow its World Languages team to connect with families in new ways. Learn more at
