APS Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring to Participate in Facebook Live Event with Mundo Hispanico, Monday

Dr. Herring will answer questions on the District’s reopening plan, one week prior to Day One on August 24

ATLANTA —  Atlanta Public Schools (APS) Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring will discuss details of the District’s proposed reopening plan during a Facebook Live event on the Mundo Hispanico Facebook page, Monday, August 17, 4 – 5 PM.

The event will be moderated by María Alejandra Bastidas, VP Digital Content for Mundo Hispanico. APS ESOL Community Specialist Joana Garcia will assist Dr. Herring as her interpreter, so that the event may be conducted in Spanish.

APS will begin the 2020-2021 school year on Monday, August 24, in an all-virtual model. As part of the District’s reopening plan, “Day One 2020 Return + Learn,” this week APS will conduct additional student assessments and get-to-know-you activities and set learning expectations for a strong start for an unconventional school year. The district is also focused on student wellness and preparation and will collect the most current contact information for every student. This model will be maintained for at least the first nine weeks of school.
