Georgia Aquarium Awards Scholarships to
10 Washington High School Students, Thursday
ATLANTA – Georgia Aquarium will launch a 10-year commitment to students at Washington High School, as part of their ongoing commitment following an Invest Atlanta grant. Ten graduating seniors will be awarded Georgia Aquarium College Scholarships, Thursday evening (6 p.m.) at the Georgia Aquarium.
The scholarships, worth $1,000 each, are for students who plan to major in a science-, marine- and/or aquatic-related field. The commitment through the Class of 2030 by the Georgia Aquarium will help spur interest in the school’s new aquaculture academic pathway, which will be fully implemented by 2024.
The inaugural scholarship winners (and their prospective colleges) are:
Kyunie Cain (Spelman College), Simaya Cain (Spelman College), Christina Dunlap (Tuskegee University), Oumy Gueye (Oxford College – Emory), Talieah Minter-Smith (Valdosta State), Kayja Radcliff (University of Georgia), Robyn Redmond (University of Miami), Brenda Thornton (University of Georgia), Morgan Turner (Undecided), Ronnie West (Clark Atlanta University).

Media Entry Instructions:
- Park anywhere in the Aquarium’s attached parking garage (media parking will be validated; GPS directions: 357 Luckie Street)
- Follow signs to the Oceans Ballroom entrance located on the 1st floor of the parking deck
- Check in with lobby security and pass a security checkpoint:
- Metal detector, temperature scan, and bag check
- Masks are required at the Aquarium, please make sure to wear properly during your visit
- Georgia Aquarium or Atlanta Public Schools public relations will escort you into the event
