Morningside Elementary One Fair: Our annual academic fair is held in the first week of December every year and allows 3rd - 5th grade students to present a project to judges as an individual or team. Students are allowed to choose a project related to science, engineering, technology or social studies. If students do well they may be selected to move on to district and/or state competitions.
Students who choose science/engineering projects demonstrate their understanding of scientific inquiry and engineering design processes. The fair promotes creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking, and also serves as a platform to inspire future interest in STEM fields.
Participants who choose technology projects create and present projects in categories like digital animation, robotics, graphic design, and software development. The fair promotes the integration of technology in learning, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills. Students are judged on innovation, presentation, and mastery of technology, providing a platform for young learners to explore and advance in the digital world.
Finally, social studies projects are focused on historical, cultural, geographical, and civic topics. Participants research and explore significant issues, people, and events, applying critical thinking and research skills to create detailed presentations. Students are evaluated based on research quality, originality, and presentation, inspiring them to engage with and understand the world around them.
